Wood Oven

We have a traditional wood oven!

On the campus of Hohenheim, we have a traditional wood oven. Once per month, or every two months, we make a pizza and bread making session. So come to FRESH, and bake with us awesome pizza and bread!

Once, Mrs. Stühlinger, foundress of the “Mettinger Backverein” and chairwoman of the “Erwin-Warth-Stiftung für Umweltschutz [for Environmental Protection]”, approached to FRESH and asked us, if we wanted to get a traditional wood oven. Of course we have been very excited and we wanted this wood oven. But more than two years, a few donations and the help by the subject area “Process Analytics and Cereal Science (150i)” and his director Prof. Dr. Bernd Hitzmann have been necessary that our dream came true. Finally, the transport from the Herderschule in Esslingen through the University of Hohenheim was successful.

In a last action, the long smokestack has been installed and the public construction authority and the chimney sweeper gave the okay. Since that date, the wood oven stands on the experimental station of the Institute of Agricultural Engineering (440).
