At FRESH, we believe that the best way to connect with the student community and promote sustainable eating is through the plate! Our mission is to create fun, engaging events where students can enjoy regional, organic, and seasonal food while learning about sustainable practices right here at the University of Hohenheim.
One of our most popular traditions is our Pizza Parties, which happen multiple times throughout the semester. Everyone is welcome—just bring your favorite toppings and ideas, and we’ll bake your creations in our wood-fired oven. It’s the perfect way to unwind, connect with fellow students, and enjoy a delicious meal together. Want to know when the next pizza party is happening? We also host Schnippel-Discos, a lively event where we come together to chop fresh, food-safe vegetables from Gemüsehof Herz, a local organic farm, while listening to great music. It’s a fun way to reduce food waste, prepare meals as a community, and enjoy the simple pleasure of cooking together. It’s all about turning sustainable eating into an engaging and social experience!
Our Bread Baking Workshops are another highlight. In these workshops, students learn the art of bread making from scratch, using traditional techniques and sustainable ingredients. It’s a hands-on way to connect with food, and the smell of freshly baked bread is always a crowd-pleaser!
But that’s not all—we also have garden cooking events, where we harvest produce from our own organic garden and grill it on our barbecue. These sessions often take place after work, creating a relaxing atmosphere where students can enjoy fresh, zero-food-mile meals while getting to know one another.
